CocoNUTS!

Hey guys! I just wanted to stop by and say hello and share with you some awesome at home beauty treatments I've been using lately!

Firstly, I am completely obsessed with Coconut Oil and use it every day in not only cooking, but in my beauty routine too! If you don't already have a tub of it, stock up!

Aside from being a healthy alternative to butter or oil in recipes, coconut oil is an amazing beauty product for hair, skin and nails! Below I've compiled a few things you can do with coconut oil that might surprise you.

Hair Mask!
Trust me, I'm a hair doctor. No really. I slathered some coconut oil onto the very dry ends of my overly processed blonde hair and worked it through moving toward my scalp. Concentrate on the ends cuz your scalp produces natural oil anyway, especially if you have extra oily hair. Wrap it up in a bun and let it soak in. You could throw a shower cap on if you need it (but hopefully you didn't add THAT much oil)... watch a TV show, or a movie, cook dinner, even sleep in it... then shampoo it out and condition like normal. Instant deep conditioner anytime you want it! Add heat for extra penetration. Do this once a week until you notice your hair getting less dry, then drop it off to twice a month, and then once a month. Healthy, shiny, longer (!!!) hair! You're welcome.

Facial Mask!
Honestly! I made myself a batch of this amazing facial mask last night... my skin has the total winter blues and NO amount of lotion or scrubbing has gotten all those little nasty flaky pieces of my face... but they're gone now! Mix equal amounts honey (organic and raw is best due to the natural anti-inflammatory properties and it helps shrink your pores!) with coconut oil until it looks like cloudy honey. If you're doing this in the summer and your coconut oil is already melty just stick it in the fridge or freezer for a couple minutes and remix. Apply the mask to your clean and dry face by rubbing it in in circles. Keep a towel handy cuz as it heats up with your skin temp, you're gonna drip and it's gonna tickle a bit. Leave it on for 15 minutes and rinse with warm water. Next, take baking soda and mix it with water until it forms a thick paste. Exfoliate your dry problem areas with this cheap natural a home microdermabrasion! Be gentle cuz you'll feel it later if you're not... rinse off with warm water, pat dry and...

Facial Moisturizer!
Apply a thin layer of coconut oil on your face as a facial moisturizer! It's great after being in the sun (but not before unless you want to cook your face off) and after exfoliating treatments (like the one above). Rub it into your skin, neck and decollete. It will give you a natural glow and keep your skin hydrated and beautiful. Make sure you rub in all the excess... cuz well, you don't want to look greasy, just dewy.

Moisturizing Body Scrub!
Mix a big ol scoop of coconut oil with any of the following... sea salt, sugar, Epsom salts, kosher salt, turbinado sugar... get the picture? The salt/sugars will scrub off the dead skin cells and scratchy bumps and the coconut oil with moisturize your skin! Keep it in a sealed container in your shower... it will last up to 2 years! But I doubt it will last that long after you see what it does for you. Add essential oils for different aromatherapy... my favorites are menthol and eucalyptus.

Bath Oil!
Drop a scoop in your hot bath and reap the moisturizing benefits while you soak! Bonus points for also adding essential oils.

Body Lotion!
Coconut oil is a great way to keep your skin looking clean and fresh after a shower or bath. Just rub a small amount into your skin after you're done bathing and watch over time as cellulite, stretch marks, dark spots and dry patches vanish.

Lip Balm!
Mix a small amount of coconut oil with some koolaid or jello (or any other flavored/colored powders... hmm maybe cocoa powder?) for a tasty tinted moisturizing lip balm! Or just use it plain!

Makeup Remover!
Just melt some between your fingertips, massage onto your face and eyes and wipe away with warm water!

Shaving Lotion!
Way better than chemicals and leaves your legs super moisturized!

and if you're really adventurous...

Toothpaste!
Mix coconut oil with baking soda and peppermint oil and VOILA!

Still not convinced? Then you sir, are a crazy person! 10 totally different beauty products in one AND you can make these with it too?! Crazy I say! But here... 333 uses for coconut oil. ENJOY!

NEW SALON!

Hey!

Just a heads up to my San Diego clients that I have parted ways with Oscar & Company Salon.

Everything is amicable with Oscar and everyone there is like family to me, but new pricing policies have forced me to look into a more affordable option. The last thing I want to have to do is raise my prices, so to keep costs down I had to find a new place.

I am currently working at Marlene's Carriage Trade Hair Design, located at 1350 Marshall Road, in Alpine, by the 76 station and Alpine Inn. I really think this salon will be a great fit and I am really looking forward to working with the girls there.

Hello.

I feel as if I have a million blogs, and I admit that it's maybe not a million. but I do have a few. Some are still up and running and some have been long forgotten, but those stories are for another day.

I am starting this blog for my "real" job, my beauty industry job, as a way to update my clients about specials, events, free stuff and what's going on in my life in general. Everything here will be beauty related, from videos and photos, to tutorials on hair and makeup, to FAQ's regarding hiring me for a job, or booking with me in the salon.

Throw me up there on your RSS feed or just check back randomly.

Feel free to LIKE me on Facebook.

Thanks for stopping by!
